epic fangirl shenanigans four-day weekend! too epic for capslock. sorry, cupcakes; fangirls have worn me out. insert porny joke of your choice! (note: everyone with a dreamwidth account has been tagged; otherwise i've used twitter usernames, because i am lazy.)
wednesday: picked upfiarra in NYC and brought her back to my apartment, where we ordered chinese and my cats got fur all over her belongings. both of my cats love her and i am 90-95% sure that hazel crept into her bag and went home with her.
thursday: back to nyc from jersey. engaged in some afternoon wandering around withfiarra andx_serenade. we hit forbidden planet, which is a pretty amazing comic book/manga/sci-fi/general nerdery store. i did not buy an amy pond action figure, but i wanted to. (collection of doctor who thoughts: have been who-watching with @manderkat andfiarra andasitor and i am happy to realize that amy pond is pretty gr8. i still miss nine. i would read amy pond/rose.)x_serenade, who has been mainlining DW this week, got a pretty sweet sonic screwdriver. fiarra got some pictures with the hesher poster & cardboard cut-out of JGL. the more anyone tries to explain what hesher is about to me, the less i understand it, much like the ":3" emoticon.
we picked up @jadedoptimist at penn station and headed to brinkley's for dinner with @ms_occam, @tarted_up, and @gochrissygo; afterwards, most of us went to the Uh Huh Her (i capitalized just for you, cam) show, which was great. had a cocktail courtesy of @ms_occam (thank you, m'dear). lukewarm on the opener, diamonds under fire. crowd was mostly there for leisha, i think. love their voices live. more guitar-y than expected, as i think @ms_occam noted. @jadedoptimist decided to come home with me andfiarra and continue the party (j/k, we fell asleep almost immediately. but there was a dream party. we have been incepted).
bid adieu tox_serenade, @ms_occam, @gochrissygo, and @jadedoptimist (the next day); hope to see these fine ladies again soon.
friday:fiarra and i headed to philadelphia for part two of our epic adventure. met up with @manderkat and @zipper_revolt for fast five, which was both everything i could have hoped and dreamed it would be (you guys saw that three-way hug, right?) and also utterly ridiculous (maybe that falls under the category of "everything i hoped and dreamed"?). there is one scene (you know what scene i'm talking about) of which we will not speak because it is too groce. post-credits shenanigans: A+. then we had lunch at bobby flay's burger palace or something like that and fiarra ate a tree burger.
then! mcr concert! i am not a card-carrying mcr fan, but have absorbed bits by way of my interest in bandom. they were great live and i knew about a third of the songs, so it was super fun to sing along. there was a moment during the mcr show where i thought: gerard way, i would follow you over a cliff right now. this was not strictly hypothetical: manda and i were in the front row of the balcony and that thing was bopping up and down like nobody's business.
afterward got a flail-filled ride back to manda's sister's place frommistresscurvy and amazonziti (hi! and thank you!) and i crashed while manda and carolina watched the ARE YOU MY MUMMY (also deserving of caps) two-parter of doctor who. many thanks to manda's sister for allowing us to stay over in her lovely apartment.
saturday:fiarra and i met crystal for more lunch and movie fun--this time we saw thor, which was decent. love story was underdeveloped and natalie portman a little wasted, now that we know she can do a lot more. surprise!kenneth branagh as director. my new ship: jane/darcy (NP/kat dennings). they annoy each other and are adorable! they banter! we've shipped for far less! :D
then fiarra and i headed back to nj and watched some more doctor who, but mostly played on our computers and chatted. we'd had a big couple of days ok. ;D
sunday:fiarra and i met @tarted_up and crystal (thanks for busing up from philly so we could get more crystal time \o/ :D) at thalia's at 50th and 9th (iirc)--lovely place; excellent free cocktail with brunch. mimosas, adam, not bloody marys! afterward had to say goodbye to fiarra. then wandered around NYC on a lovely day with crystal and @tarted_up--a relaxing end to a frenetic weekend.
and then it was over and i had to go home and now i am bereft and without fangirls. ;_; much love to all, especially my partner in crime for the past five days,fiarra. hope to see you all again very, very soon (next up: me and crystal head to the panic show in philly on may 20th \o/).
